The MEAN of a set of data is obtained by adding up all the values of the data and dividing them by the total number of data.
Eg:
Find the mean of the following sets of data:
a) -8, -5, -3, 0, 0, 1, 2, 8
Solution:
Mean = ( (-8) + (-5) + (-3) + 0 + 0 + 1 + 2 + 8 ) / 8
Mean = - (5/8) or -0.625
Mean = (Sum of values of data) / (Total number of data)
