Monday 2 November 2015

MEDIA RELEASE

Scholarship gives Malaysian students the opportunity to study with a leading Australian university online in their home country

Today one of the world’s top 3% universities, Swinburne University of Technology, launched its ‘Next Step’ scholarship, giving one lucky Malaysian student the opportunity for a year of free study in Malaysia delivered by the online centre of excellence, Swinburne Online.

Malaysian students will have access to a global network and high-quality international university undergraduate and postgraduate study options. Graduates from Australian universities are employed around the globe, due to the impeccable international reputation of the Australian education system.

Worth up to the value of $22,000AUD (over $60,000MYR), the competition is open to Malaysian residents wanting to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate study. Entrants will be required to submit an online video showcasing their background, career aspirations and reasons they should win a years’ worth of study.

Swinburne Online CEO, Denice Pitt said the university is excited to be able to offer Malaysian students the opportunity of a scholarship competition that could take them to the next step in their life or career.

“Swinburne Online is providing Malaysian students with access to high-quality, international undergraduate and postgraduate university degrees,” said Ms Pitt.

“We know that studying a high-quality university degree is a priority for most people considering higher education, but not everyone can afford the time to attend an on-campus University, let alone an international one.

“Swinburne’s launch into Malaysia makes it easy for students to study an international degree, through providing an online option where they can stay in their home country.

“Our online students have access to the same global network of students, alumni and academics, and graduate with a degree from a top 400 university in the world.”

The winner of the Next Step scholarship will be able to choose from one of 15 undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across the discipline areas of business, social science, design and communications.

Applications will close February 18, 2016 and the winner will be announced in February 25. For more on the scholarship competition visit the Next Step website.
